The First Presbyterian Church Handbell Choir was organized by Meg Becker in the 1980’s. Two octaves of handbells were purchased and Meg attended many workshops that explained how to ring handbells, how to select music, learned conducting techniques, and how to assign bell parts. Many of the original members of the beginning choir are still active members today.
Marge Fahrenholz was asked to direct the Bell Choir when Meg moved from the area in 1996 and is the current director. Over the years, and as the bell choir grew in numbers, more bells we are a full five-octave bell choir. We have also added five-octaves of handchimes, plus all the tables, stands, foam, and music needed.
The Handbell Choir meets every Wednesday from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. in the Bell Room and we ring once a month for church services.
